I have GPS device which comminicates through using GPRS tcp protocol.
I have plans to user Net_Socket PEAR packet to communicate with the device.

If I understand right it can be used to communicate using TCP socket.
My question is that if I have domain www.mydomain.com as address where Net_Socket is installed at root index.php.

Do server have to initiate the connection with the device, or will device contacting to www.mydomain.com using TCP conection port 80 automatically activate the index.php ...

Well I am not used to socket programming, bust sounds like I would need to have some sort socket listener on the server instead?

Any succestions?

Could some small perl script be used to initiate the index.php with net_socket source code.

Any succestions?

Any specialist on this field?
